We are delighted to announce the arrival and rollout of our new bikes and stations for the hire-a-bike scheme. We are busy getting them ready for deployment to the new stations which you may have seen along the promenade. The bikes are still as comfortable and easy to ride as last years model but with some key enhancements to help them resist the elements and to fit the new docking stations better.

We will be on a continuous rolling programme of adding more bikes and stations to the scheme as the summer progresses, starting with stations on the promenade from all the way from South Pier up to Anchorsholme Park. A full list of the stations, and which are operating will be maintained on our website page www.hourbike.com/blackpool

We will need to convert some of the existing stations at Solaris, Sandcastle and Pleasure Beach which will mean taking them out of service briefly so please bear with us whilst we do that.

As part of Blackpool’s participation in professional cycle races the Nocturn race is being held this coming Saturday 21st August. To celebrate the new hire bikes a special race is being held on a short course around the town centre, open to anyone, using our new bikes so that everyone is equal ! There are some great prizes on offer – First prize being a Sky Team race helmet and 40 hours credit on your hire-a-bike account.
