Who will switch on the 2011 Illuminations?
For the first time in dacades the 2011 Switch On show will be on the promenade on the newly completed Tower Headland. It will be the first time since the early Illumination days that the crowd will be able to watch the Switch On Concert and see the promenade Illuminate when the lucky celebrity flicks the switch. 
The 2010 switch on star was Robbie Williams. Alesha Dixon was the first of last years performers to be made public. The switch on will, was for the last time be in the switch on arena behind the sea life centre. With the success of last years all ticket switch on, the smart money is on an all ticket event for 2011! Details on how to get the tickets will be published as soon as availablle. People attending the 2011 Blackpool Lights switch on show will, for the first time, actually be able to see the illuminations light up!
Each year Blackpool and Smooth / Real Radio announce the name of the mystery celebrity who will be flicking the famous switch to mark the start of the 2011 Blackpool Illuminations.

Join us for the 2010 Big Switch On Weekend 3-5 September when once again we will have a top name concert with our mystery star pulling the switch on the 3 September to launch the 2010 Blackpool Illuminations which shine until 7 November.
Names of the bands and the person, or persons, who will throw the most important switch in Britain, will be announced shortly. Previous switch on names include Doctor Who’s David Tennant, the Top Gear Team and last year Alan Carr.
Over 15,000 people are expected to enjoy Blackpool’s biggest night of the year ‘The Big Switch On Show’ live from a specially built arena in the heart of the UK’s most famous holiday destination, with thousands more flooding into the resort to see the award-winning Blackpool Illuminations switch on. This year the show will be hosted by Real Radio and Smooth Radio and broadcast across their UK network.
